Solar Shares II for statewide

Take action: Stop SMUD from blocking your new neighbors from choosing solar

To the CA Energy Commission:

Please oppose the proposal by SMUD, the Sacramento utility, to effectively keep solar panels and batteries from being put into new home construction.

SMUD’s proposal will:

* Discourage solar from being installed directly on new homes.
* Make it harder for homeowners to add solar and storage later on.
* Deny new residents the chance to save hundreds of dollars on their energy bills each year.
* Deny new residents the ability to keep the lights on during blackouts.

If you approve this for Sacramento, every utility in the state will likely follow suit. This will gut the state’s solar homes program at a time when we should be making it as easy as possible for our new neighbors to make and store their own solar energy at home and at work.
